The old vine cuvée, the 2019 Saint Joseph Les Grisières sees a slightly longer élevage in barrel. It's up with the finest wines I've tasted from Perret and has classic Saint Joseph earthy, mineral-laced dark fruits as well as ground pepper, leather, and some meatiness. Medium to full-bodied and perfectly balanced, with gorgeous tannins, it too is ideal for drinking over the coming 10-12 years and will certainly evolve for longer.

Shimmering ruby. Mineral-accented cherry and cassis scents are complemented by suggestions of smoky bacon, licorice and pungent flowers. Well- concentrated but surprisingly lively on the palate, offering pliant red and blue fruit preserve, spicecake, cola and salty olive flavors that slowly firm up and become sweeter with air. Finishes impressively long, sappy and precise, with juicy acidity adding lift and cut to the blue fruit-driven, youthfully tannic finish. Made with 20% whole clusters.
